Goals

The goal is to provide each physical education student a place to actively participate in a standards based physical education program. Providing activities for students here on the EOC campus keeps students apprised of the California state standards. Our goal is to provide the students with the best fitness training program in the district. We do this by providing opportunities for students on campus as well as online through independent study.

Two Part Focus on Physical Education

Online –independent learning of California standards

With online assignments, students focus on rules, the history of the sport, and the skill practice of each sport. Students provide proof of learning through skill assessment and unit exams. Skill assessment comes in the form of student submitted video clips demonstrating skill knowledge they have learned after practice of said skill.

Lab – focuses on cardiovascular fitness

During physical education labs, students participate in various activities that focus on flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, core strengthening, and strength training. Core activities focus on targeting abdominal muscle strength and weight training. Activities such as Wii Just Dance, Zumba!, Insanity, P90x, yoga, boxing, tennis, and swimming not only help students keep fit, but also keeps them engaged and interested in fitness. High School students are required to attend a 60 minute lab session 15 times per semester. Middle School students are required to attend a 60 minute lab session 10 times per semester.
