The Educational Options Center has implemented Read 180 Universal, an innovative blended learning solution published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and built to ensure all readers are on track to college, career, and beyond. 

READ 180 Universal is a research-based comprehensive system of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional development proven to raise reading achievement for struggling readers in grades 4—12+. Read 180 Universal is an intensive individualized reading recovery program that combines direct instruction, group work, and individual computer support. The Read 180 program is designed to meet the instructional needs of teachers while helping students meet the rigorous expectations of the Common Core Standards and assessments. 

Read 180 Universal is designed for any student reading two or more years below grade level and leverages adaptive technology to individualize instruction for students.  The program provides powerful data for differentiation and utilizes interdisciplinary literacy skills to meets student’s needs in order to comprehend complex text across various content levels. READ 180 Universal is filled with engaging multimedia science and social studies content as well as literature. Respectful of students of all ages, READ 180 Universal is available in three Stages each with unique, age-appropriate content: Stage A (Grades 4—6), Stage B (Grades 6—8), and Stage C (Grades 9 and up).  System 44 is available for lower-level and English language learners. Our program utilizes all stages of Read 180, including System 44.
